Serge Aurier

Good news for Tottenham & PSG’s Serge Aurier

Tottenham & Serge Aurier

Leading French daily L’Equipe have a big story on Tuesday for Tottenham fans.

For several weeks, Tottenham have been linked with PSG full-back Serge Aurier.

And according to the latest report from L’Equipe, Aurier’s move from PSG to Spurs now appears to be in touching distance.

If the deal is finalised, Aurier would join Colombian centre-half Davinson Sanchez at Tottenham, as Mauricio Pochettino looks to boost his defensive options.

Spurs, of course, sold Kyle Walker to Man City this summer.

‘Aurier has a foot in Spurs’

L’Equipe announce that Tottenham are close to finalising an agreement worth more than €25 million with PSG for Serge Aurier.

However does that mean the deal will close? That’s still a question mark for legal reasons.

Holding up any move for Aurier is the PSG defender’s appeal against a conviction for assaulting a police officer.

Aurier cannot legally enter the UK right now so any transfer cannot be completed.

The Ivorian right back missed PSG’s match at Arsenal in October for this very reason.

Aurier also infamously took the mickey out of his then coach (Laurent Blanc) and star striker (Zlatan Ibrahimovic) on Periscope.

Other Aurier issues

Does Aurier to Spurs make sense?

It is well known that PSG want rid of Aurier, after a troublesome spell at the Parc des Princes.

Moreover, he’s dropped down the PSG pecking order after the arrival of Dani Alves.

Yet, Aurier is not known as the most stable character on or off the pitch and it seems surprising that any of the named Premier League suitors are so keen on  the player.

It’s also worth remembering, however, that Aurier’s agent is Jorge Mendes, while PSG are keen to sell off their surplus players after Neymar’s arrival from Barcelona.
