Good news for Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho

Mamadou Sakho has something to smile about

The summer of 2016 was rather rough for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho.

Previously considered a first team regular, Sakho has fallen off the radar in recent times at Anfield.

He’s no longer in Jurgen Klopp’s first team following his absence from the game in a drugs ban that was eventually lifted, and after being sent home from the US tour after he breached club discipline on three separate occasions.

Indeed, in the final days of the transfer window, reports circulated that Sakho needed to find a new club, or he’d face a season without any football with the Reds.

Sakho, however, managed to avoid moving from Anfield, and this week he’s begun training with the Liverpool first team once more.

Does that mean he’ll get a recall?

It’s too early to tell.

However Paul Joyce has written the following in the Express on Tuesday:

Sakho is training with Liverpool’s first team as he begins the task of forcing his way back into Jurgen Klopp’s plans against the odds.

Sakho knows he faces a battle to play games this season, especially as Liverpool are not in Europe, but has not been ostracised by Klopp and joined in yesterday’s session at Melwood.
