Jose Mourinho

Gary Neville makes bold comment about Man United’s squad

One winger away

Manchester United looked ominous on the opening weekend of the season, and now Sky Sports pundit and former United right back Gary Neville has claimed the Red Devils are only one player away from having a complete and total squad.

Neville spoke with Sky Sports and said: “Is Rashford a wide player – not really?

“That is where United could get one world class winger and it would be a complete squad.

“They have to challenge this year.

“Last season was not good enough and it was a big under performance from the players.”

Of course, certain players from last season, such as Paul Pogba are expected to do better this season, and looking at their performance in the opening game of the season, that certainly seems to be the case – with winger Anthony Martial someone who will have to impress Mourinho if he wants to stay at the club.

Gareth Bale

While the chase for Ivan Perisic seems to be all but over, one player who could well be on their way to United is Gareth Bale, with Jose Mourinho making no secret of his admiration for the player.

Mourinho may have said all is lost and done in the Bale saga, but it seems there are still lingering doubts about his future at Madrid, and the player could well see more of the bench than the starting line up this season, with the form of Asensio – not to mention the constant links to Kylian Mbappe.

That may well see Bale willing to leave, and Real also keen on cashing in on a player that is only losing money in terms of their value – and strike while the market is inflated and United are looking for a winger.

It may not be this summer, but should the first half of the season go badly for Bale, the links may well come back with fervour in the winter transfer window.
