Frank Lampard is a Chelsea legend, and has been part of a hugely successful Blues side, writing his name in history when it comes to midfielders and trophies won.
Now, he’s hung up his boots after a spell at Manchester City and one in the MLS, and is trying his hand at being a pundit.
He’s been speaking about Chelsea, and their boss Antonio Conte, and has compared the job done by the title winning manager to that done by Jose Mourinho.
The former midfielder explained: “The job Antonio Conte has done is different class.
“When Jose came into the club, he took over a team of boys and turned us into winners.
“Antonio inherited a squad that had won the league two years before but were on a real downer, but he has done a similar job to Jose in many ways.
They both brought an organisation to Chelsea, instilled a winning mentality, brought passion to their teams. Now the big test is for Chelsea to go again next year.”
As Lampard said, the real test now for the Blues and Conte is next season – and seeing if they can retain their title, or if they will go and do the same thing that they did under Jose Mourinho.
There’s also an FA Cup final for the Blues to navigate before the end of the season, and winning that, and thus the double would be a huge, huge success for Conte and his men this season – and one Jose Mourinho didn’t even manage, after winning the Premier League and the League Cup in his debut season.
