Jermaine Pennant for PM
Former Premier League winger Jermaine Pennant spoke up on Twitter this morning after the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union.
The 33-year-old, now plying his trade for Tampines Rovers in Singapore, was roundly mocked on social media for a tweet which started going viral before quickly being deleted.
Jermaine Pennant asked his followers “Now we are not in Europe what’s going to happen with the next euros 2018??? #eu”
With the next Euros in 2020 (and England not planning to relocate to South America), the former Arsenal, Liverpool and Stoke City winger attempted to backtrack quickly and suggested he was winding up his followers. No one believed him. See the tweet below.
We at 101 Great Goals can confirm that England will take part in Euro 2020 qualifying. A quarter final exit at the hands of Germany already seems likely.
