As per multiple reports in both the Portuguese and English press this afternoon, Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea are set to go head-to-head this summer over the signature of one of European football’s most talented youngsters.
The player on the radar of both clubs is prodigious Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves.
The 20-year-old has been viewed as a potential future superstar in Portugal for several years now, with the Porto youth product having made his debut for the club’s first team at just 17 years of age, before going on to become the youngest player to captain a Champions League side in the competition’s history, at 18 years and 221 days old.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Neves on several occasions in the past, with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp rumoured to be a huge fan of the talents of the gifted midfielder.
In addition, Chelsea, along with Manchester United and Arsenal, are said to have made previous contact with Porto regarding the availability of Neves.
On the move?
While the youngster reportedly informed Porto last year that he was keen to stay with the club for at least one more season to further develop, it is rumoured that the twice-capped international could be coaxed away from the Primeira Liga side this summer.
£30 million is said to be the minimum asking price for Neves.
