BBC’s team of the week
It’s Monday, which means that Garth Crooks has again selected his Premier League team of the week for the BBC.
This week’s XI is largely compiled of players from Chelsea, Arsenal and West Brom.
Moreover, the team has adopted Chelsea’s new 3-4-3 formation.
The back four
Antonio Conte’s side are back on top of the league following a brilliant 3-1 win at Man City in the opening match of round 14 in the EPL.
Two of Chelsea’s rearguard make the cut, as goalie Thibaut Courtois is picked between the sticks while David Luiz was selected in defence.
The other two defenders included West Brom centre-half Gareth McAuley and Stoke’s Marc Muniesa.
The midfielder four
In a slightly odd move, Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker was picked as a right winger in the BBC XI, while Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal was selected on the opposite flank.
The north London rivals were joined by Crystal Palace’s James McArthur in the middle of the park, while Bournemouth’s catalyst for their 4-3 win over Liverpool – sub Ryan Fraser – also earned a spot in the team.
The front three
West Brom’s Matt Phillips earned a place in the front three alongside Arsenal and Chelsea stars.
Finally, Diego Costa was brilliant in the second half at the Etihad for the Blues, and he partnered Arsenal’s hat-trick hero Alexis Sanchez completed the team.
