Champions League pots all but confirmed ahead of Thursday’s draw

Group stage draw

Following tonight’s five playoff matches, the pots of Thursday’s draw are basically confirmed.

There are still five more ties to be completed tomorrow, including Liverpool’s second leg against Hoffenheim.

The brilliant @MisterChip2010 has broken it down and the most likely pots are revealed below.

Pot 4 will include Feyenoord, Maribor, RB Leipzig and Celtic – who were involved in a 4-3 thriller on Tuesday night. The remaining four sides will be confirmed on Wednesday.

Pot 3 is practically set. Napoli, Spurs, Basel, Olympiakos, Anderlecht, Roma and Besiktas are confirmed to be in this pot, with Liverpool likely to be the eighth side.

The Reds head into tomorrow’s match at Anfield with a 2-1 aggregate lead.

Strong pot 2

Arguably stronger than pot 1, pot 2 is confirmed to include Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Manchester City, FC Porto and last season’s Europa League winners Manchester United.

Pot 1 features last season’s domestic league winners Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Benfica, Monaco, Spartak Moscow and Shakhtar.

Following the Champions League draw, the draw for the Europa League will take place on Friday.

Arsenal, not in the Champions League for the first time in Wenger’s reign at the club, are seeded first in the tournament.

The Champions League group stages are almost set! 👀 #championsleague
