Dortmund bash Milan
AC Milan are in the process of rebuilding their squad but Borussia Dortmund showed it will take time for the team to gel by comfortably beating them 3-1 in the International Champions Cup pre-season tournament.
Two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – once of Milan and linked with a return to his former club – and a strike from Nuri Sahin were enough to hand Dortmund victory. Carlos Bacca scored the consolation Milan goal.
Sahin opened the scoring with a low drive before Aubameyang doubled Dortmund’s lead from the penalty spot. Bacca pulled one back to spark hopes of a fightback. Aubameyang poured cold water over those hopes in the second half.
The wet conditions created problems for both goalkeepers and Marco Storari should have saved Sahin’s effort.
New Milan boys
Milan started with several new signings. Ricardo Rodriguez, Franck Kessie and Fabio Borini were all on from the start, while Hakan Calhanoglu and Mateo Musacchio came on at half-time. They couldn’t stop Dortmund, though.
Peter Bosz watched his side attack with intent with Ousmane Dembele and Christian Pulisic impressing.
