According to a report from Spanish outlet Sport this afternoon, Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal has turned down the chance to join Serie A giants Juventus.
Vidal was brought to the Camp Nou in 2015 from Sevilla, with the Blaugrana hopeful that the Spanish full-back could back-up and eventually replace Dani Alves at the club.
Following a disappointing debut campaign which saw the defender make just 9 La Liga appearances for the club, Vidal was given a consistent run in Barca’s starting lineup midway through last season.
A string of extremely impressive performances saw the 27-year-old notch 2 goals and 2 assists in just 5 league starts, before an untimely horrific ankle dislocation left Vidal sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
Juventus have been on the lookout for a new right-back following the termination of Dani Alves’ contract which allowed the Brazilian veteran to join PSG, and were reportedly highly impressed by Vidal’s outings in Catalunya last season.
The Bianconeri contacted Barcelona regarding the once-capped international’s availability over the last few days, but were quickly rebuffed by Vidal himself, who informed the Italian champions that he has no intention of departing the Camp Nou any time soon.
