Coming to an end
Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal has revealed that he will retire from international duty after the World Cup next year.
Though, Chile are in trouble when it comes to qualification to the tournament after losing two games on the run, losing 3-0 against Paraguay and then 1-0 in Bolivia.
The country’s best chance to make it to the World Cup could now rest in the play-off round of the CONMEBOL.
If the side were to fall short of qualification, then Vidal would likely leave it at that and call it a day with the Chilean national team.
Vidal posted the confirmation on his Instagram page when talking about the recent losses to Paraguay and Bolivia.
The player posted an image of the team on the plane with a caption apologising for the losses and also explained that they will keep fighting.
“We will continue fighting!!! Two matches and the World Cup is what I have left, thanks for so much affection in all these years!!!” the caption read.
Chilean fans will certainly be very sad with the decision as the player is probably considered the best player in the country alongside Alexis Sanchez.
Though, the same fans will also be hoping the player can guide them to the World Cup to see him with a good enough send off.
Following that, Vidal will concentrate on the club career as he continues on with Bayern Munich looking for a Champions League title.
Alexis Sanchez criticised by Chile coach
While Arturo Vidal is no doubt one of the big players in the side, Alexis Sanchez is of similar quality to the midfielder.
Though, Alexis is in the bad books in Chile at the moment after the coach called him fat.
