Santi Cazorla is Arsenal’s first choice penalty taker
Arsenal bagged an impressive win at Hull on Saturday and the Gunners are surely getting into their groove now.
Arsene Wenger’s side have recovered from their slow start to the campaign with three wins on the bounce in the Premier League.
There were a huge amount of positives to take from Arsenal’s 4-1 win at Hull, not least the performance of Granit Xhaka.
Why did Alexis Sanchez take Arsenal’s penalty at Hull?
Arsenal were already 1-0 up at Hull thanks to Alexis Sanchez’s opener when they won a penalty just before the break.
Alexis Sanchez took it and saw Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic dive to his right for an excellent save.
The fact Sanchez took the penalty was a real surprise to many Arsenal fans, since Santi Cazorla is the Gunners main spot kick taker.
For example, a week ago, Cazorla took the Arsenal penalty to bag a late win over Southampton.
When questioned after the game, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was as much at a loss as anyone else about why Sanchez took it – see video below.
Ultimately, Arsenal won 4-1 and Sanchez scored two, so we doubt anyone is losing any sleep about it…
