Zlatan injured v Anderlecht

Adidas drop Man United Zlatan Ibrahimovic hint & confirm new number

Zlatan’s Manchester United return is imminent

For a few days now, it has become clear that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be returning to Manchester United.

This particular “transfer” has very much played out on Instagram.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has proved his fitness on the social media website and his return to Old Trafford has also been confirmed by Eric Bailly.

Reports on Sunday suggested that Zlatan’s return to Manchester United was imminent but as of Tuesday morning nothing had been confirmed.

Amid the Zlatan rumours, Adidas have confirmed the Swedish striker would be returning to Old Trafford on their US website.

Manchester United fans have noticed that they can buy a number 10 Red Devils shirt despite the fact Zlatan’s return has not been confirmed.

Arguably the big surprise about Adidas’ major hint is Zlatan’s change of number at Manchester United.

Lukaku number 9, Zlatan number 10

Zlatan wore the number 9 shirt at Old Trafford last season, but that has now been taken by Romelu Lukaku.

So far Lukaku has justified the Manchester United number 9 shirt, scoring against Real Madrid, West Ham (2) and Swansea.

Despite the rumours and the Adidas hint there is still no need for Manchester United to announce Zlatan’s return with any great hurry.

Zlatan is not expected to be available again for selection until December 2017 at the very earliest.

Zlatan set for a second season at Manchester United

The super Swedish striker spent one season at Manchester United, winning the League Cup and Europa League in the process.

Zlatan’s time at Manchester United was cut short by a serious knee injury in April during the Europa League clash with Anderlecht.

The 35-year-old scored 17 goals in 28 Premier League games for Manchester United in 2016/2017.
