AEK Athens 1 - Bologna 1 (Friendly, August 18, 2008) Adailton gave the Italians the lead, scoring directly from a well-taken free-kick on the 31 minutes. AEK levelled after the break, Rivaldo’s shot flew under the crossbar just after the hour mark.

PAOK Saloniki 1 - CSKA Sofia 0 (Friendly, August 18, 2008) Konstantinidis’ second half header proved decisive.

Oxford 6 - Eastbourne 3 (Conference, August 16, 2008) Constable converted Matt Day’s corner and then crossed for Levi Reid to double a lead which Eastbourne’s Patrick Harding and then Allan Tait wiped out. Marc Pullen’s own goal gifted Oxford the lead, only for Paul Armstrong to draw level Eastbourne level again. But Eddie Hutchinson headed Oxford back in front, Constable added his second and Barry Quinn headed United’s sixth.
