Looking back in Anger: Spurs fans heckle Liam Gallagher (video)

During Spurs’ 2-1 defeat of Manchester City last weekend in the Premier League, one of the off-field talking points to emerge from the match was the Tottenham faithful’s heckling of Oasis front-man Liam Gallagher.
The kerfuffle ignited after City’s Valeri Bojinov drew the Mancunians level in the second half. Unable to keep his emotions under wraps, Liam jumped up from seat in a private box and, according to reports, began laughing loudly and sticking two fingers up at the Spurs fans sitting below him.
Not ones to take such banter lightly, the Tottenham crowd turned on Gallagher, who was watching the game with his brother Paul, with chants of “Liam, you’re a c***!” and “You dirty Northern b*****d!”
Later, after Spurs took the lead through a controversial Robbie Keane penalty, the crowd were reported to have sung “Liam, what’s the score?” and “you’re just a sh*t Chas & Dave.”

Bit of a joke interpretation there. You seem to have missed that most of the shelf and park lane gave him abuse but it was all good natured, he took some stick, gave it back and everybody cheered him. It wasnt aggressive at all!

Most of the “abuse” was before City scored and was all pretty good natured and tongue in cheek.
We even gave him a big round of applause from after a while – because you have to admire the guy as a real fan who gave it a go rather than a celeb hanger-on who didn’t care.

I agree Liam Gallagher is an idiot and there is nothing wrong with a bit of back-chat, but if I was at White Hart Lane I’d be watching the football not the coked-up has-been singer of a Beatles cover band having his ego stroked. I wouldn’t waste an entire minute making a video of it when I’d be missing the match.

I was on the shelf about 4 car lengths away towards the Park Lane.
That cocked -up dirty northern bastard made himself known when Spurs went ahead. The crowd were not tongue in cheek they were incensed that that piece of shite was allowed to remain in the box unrestrained for the entire game.
Before City replied the Tottenham faithful universally sang, in addition to Liam, you’re a C@nt, You’re, just a shit Chas & Dave and What’s the story, Tottenham Glory – very witty.
I cant recall whether it was when they equalised or we converted the penalty that he started calling it on with Spurs fans below him and offering them outside.
Despite complaints to stewards about his inciting behaviour he was allowed to remain unchecked , its a F@ckin disgrace, anyone else would have been booted out of the ground and rightly so!
