Mamadou Sakho and Simon Mignolet could receive their first minutes during Liverpool’s pre-season against City as both players have recently joined up with the squad following the World Cup, however the Reds also have several absentees for the match.
Daniel Agger, tipped to join Barcelona, will miss the game, while new signings from Southampton, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren, are both ruled out of the match too.
As for those fit and able, Jordon Ibe and Raheem Sterling will be looking to continue their fine pre-seasons so far, while the match should give Lazar Markovic another chance to get minutes under his belt after moving to Anfield from Benfica.
As for City, Stevan Jovetic should lead the attack for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, while other first team starters Aleksander Kolarov, Gael Clichy, Matija Nastasic, Jesus Navas should also get a run out.
Pelligrini has also confirmed, howeverm that none of the World Cup participants who have joined up with the squad will feature against the Reds, meaning that delayed arrivals David Silva, Yaya Toure, James Milner, Edin Dzeko and Joe Hart are all set to miss the game.
