Having already played host to one pre-season friendly this summer, in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with PSG, the Yankee Stadium will become centre stage again on Wednesday night/Thursday morning (kick off at 1am UK time) as Real Madrid take on AC Milan at arguably baseball’s most iconic venue.

On paper at least, Real Madrid come into this friendly match as favourites and are already swatting teams aside as they have been doing in La Liga for some time now.
The 5-2 defeat at Benfica was a blip compared to smashing five past Oviedo and LA Galaxy respectively and Santos Laguna were also brushed aside on Sunday evening. Although Jose Mourinho doesn’t put a great deal of emphasis on pre-season, the quality available to Los Blancos means they should win out.
With plenty of victorious Spaniards from Euro 2012 and Cristiano Ronaldo now back in the fold and with a two-legged Spanish Super Cup tie with Barcelona to come at the end of the month, you can see Real Madrid stepping it up for this glamour friendly.
The Rossoneri have had a difficult summer with Massimo Allegri losing his two best players in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to balance the books.
A new direction for AC Milan seems likely, with the purchase and introduction of younger players to challenge Juventus at the top of the tree in Serie A.
Recent pre-season results have been better than some would have expected with Schalke, Chelsea and Olimpia all beaten. Suggesting the likes of Robinho, Antonio Nocerino and Urby Emanuelson will be able to cope in the absence of Zlatan.
Real will surely win this one but AC Milan should put up some resistance and it looks set to be a great watch!
