A phantom goal was scored in the lower leagues in Spain last weekend.
The Tercera Division match between Quintanar del Rey and Toledo ended 3-3, however the hosts were awarded with a goal that clearly never was.
Quintanar’s number 17 arrowed a half volley at the Toledo goal, but his shot cannoned off the underside of the bar and stayed out.
Without any reaction from players from both sides, the match continued after the ball hit the woodwork, until the referee made a crazy decision to blow his whistle and determine that a goal had been scored even though it blatantly hadn’t.
