MLS Goals: Seattle maintain their 100% start to life in the MLS; DC United hold the Fire; Quakes edge Houston in a 5-goal thriller

Seattle Sounders 2 – Real Salt Lake 0 (MLS, March 28, 2009) Seattle super start to life in the MLS continued with back-to-back home wins, this week beating RSL. Nate Jaqua turned home the 17th minute opener after great work from Zakuani down the left. And Fredy Montero took the opportunity to enhance is already glowing reputation with a brilliant 30-yarder that sealed the win in the second half.

DC United 1 – Chicago Fire 1 (MLS, March 28, 2009) Luciano Emilio gave DC United the lead in the 7th minute, but the Fire drew level thanks to Patrick Nyarko’s neat finish in the box early in the second half.

San Jose Earthquakes 3 – Houston Dynamo 2 (MLS, March 28, 2009) Ryan Johnson opened on the half hour mark for the hosts, bursting between two defenders and steering a left-footed shot off the post. Three minutes later Arturo Alvarez cut in from the right wing, dribbled across the top of the penalty box before beating Onstad inside the keeper’s the near post. Sixty seconds later Chris Wondolowski scored for the Dynamo and it was all-square two minutes after when Brad Davis fired a left-footed shot past San Jose keeper Joe Cannon. A gripping first half ended with the hosts’ third, Cam Weaver netting the winner after being played in by Darren Huckerby.
