Mariners come back from three-down at Sydney; Goals from the MLS playoffs

Sydney FC 3 – Central Coast Mariners 3 (A-League, November 1, 2008) Two wonder-strikes from Sydney’s Mark Bridge and Adam Casey lit up the first-half before Terry McFlynn’s stunning long-range effort in the 56th minute seemingly had the hosts in an unassailable 3-goal lead. But the Mariners rallied, Matt Simon pulled one back just after the hour mark before Nik Mrdja nipped in to make it 3-2. Simon then completed the fightback with his second goal four minutes later. Controversially, Sydney’s Mitchell Prentice should arguably have been sent off for a stomp on Matt Simon which went unnoticed.
