Seo Dong-hyun then sealed the win late in the game when he struck from the penalty spot following a foul which saw SAF goalkeeper Shahril Jantan sent off.

Sepahan 3 – Al-Ettifaq 0 (Asian Champions League, May 19, 2009) Hossein Papi gave Sepahan the lead after only two minutes before Hadi Asghari and Hamid Azizzadeh wrapped up the win with second-half goals for the Iranian side.

Al-Jazira 2 – Esteghlal 2 (Asian Champions League, May 19, 2009) Al Jazira’s Ali Mabkhout scored in the 49th minute before Mohsin al Meharram made it 2-nil in the 70th with his first touch. Esteghlal’s Ali Alizadeh deflected in Farhad Majidi’s 30-yard shot to pull a goal back in the 78th, and Hadi Shakouri leveled from close range in the 84th.

Al-Ittihad Jeddah 7 – Umm Salal 0 (Asian Champions League, May 19, 2009) Nayif Hazazi’s hat-trick, Saled al-Saqri added a brace, and Renato Maurice and Talal al-Meshal scored once each.
