Goals from Australia

Central Coast Mariners 2 – Brisbane Roar 3 (A-League, December 18. 2009) Two superb strikes from Tommy Oar and Sergio Van Dijk gave the Roar an early two goal lead. But an error from skipper Craig Moore handed Nicky Travis an easy goal to give the home side a lifeline just before halftime. Gold Coast substitute Dylan Macallister headed home with 15 minutes left to tie the game at two apiece before Matt McKay’s winner in time added on.

Melbourne Victory 0 – Sydney FC 0 (A-League, December 19, 2009) The defending champions dominated the contest but a combination of wasteful shooting and a tight rearguard action from the Sky Blues denied Melbourne captain Kevin Muscat marking his 500th game with a win.

Adelaide United 1 – Wellington Phoenix 1 (A-League, December 18. 2009) Adelaide’s Brazilian fullback Alemao ignited the game with a stunning 30-yard strike in the 57th minute, but despite a host of chances to put the game out of Wellington’s reach, United’s lead was cancelled out in the 77th minute after Adrian Caceres created panic in the Reds’ six yard box.
