Houston 1 – UNAM Pumas 3 (CONCACAF Champions League, October 22, 2008) Cacho and Espinoza scored first-half goals and although Houston cut the deficit in the 39th minute with a Palacios own goal, Palacios made amends after the break to seal Pumas win.

San Francisco 2 – LA Firpo 3 (CONCACAF Champions League, October 22, 2008) Perez opened the scoring in the 37th minute for the hosts, but Alas evened the score for Firpo two minutes before halftime. Sanchez put Firpo ahead in the 49th and Gomez added the third. Jimenez narrowed the gap seven minutes from time.

Santos Laguna 3 – Tauro 0 (CONCACAF Champions League, October 22, 2008) Benitez lost his marker and opened the scoring in the 11th minute, then the Ecuadorean striker lashed in another in the 27th. Gregorio Torres added the third in the 53rd minute.

Chicago Fire 5 – New York Red Bulls 2 (MLS, October 23, 2008) Chris Rolfe posted a first-half hat-trick, scoring in the 11th, 38th and 44th minutes, and he set up both of his team’s goals in the second half for Brian McBride and defender Daniel Woolard. New York got a first-half goal from Juan Pablo Angel and a late goal by Macoumba Kandji.
