Qatar 0 – Japan 3 (2010 World Cup qualifier, November 19, 2008) Japan took the lead in the 19th minute when Tanaka slipped the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs. Tamada scored in the 47th with a hard left-footed shot from the edge of the area, before Tanaka made it 3-nil with a close-range header.

Saudi Arabia 0 – South Korea 2 (2010 World Cup qualifier, November 19, 2008) The Saudis were reduced to 10-men in the 58th minute when Naif Hazazi picked up his second yellow card of the match. The visitors took advantage of their extra numbers, Lee Kuen-ho slotted home the opener and Park Chu-young’s struck a powerful right-footed shot from just outside the box in injury time.

UAE 1 – Iran 1 (2010 World Cup qualifier, November 19, 2008) Abdul-Raheem Jumaa gave the hosts the lead in the 19th minute, but Karim Bagheri earned Iran a point heading home a cross from Masoud Shojaei.

USA 2 – Guatemala 0 (2010 World Cup qualifier, November 19, 2008) Kenny Cooper scored the opening goal in the 54th minute for the Americans before Freddy Adu scored his first goal for the senior national team with a splendid free-kick in the 69th minute.

Honduras 1 – Mexico 0 (2010 World Cup qualifier, November 19, 2008) Mexico continued their dismal away form under Sven Goran-Eriksson as they were sunk by a Ricardo Osorio own goal. Mexico’s frustration boiled over the last five minutes when both Gerardo Torrado and Carlos Vela were sent off. Mexico sneaked through to the next round on goal-difference, while Honduras topped the group as winners.

El Salvador 1 – Costa Rica 3 (2010 World Cup qualifier, November 19, 2008)

Jamaica 3 – Canada 0 (2010 World Cup qualifier, November 19, 2008) The John Barnes revival continues to go form strength to strength, even though this result failed to advance the Reggae Boys to the next stage. Goals from Luton Shelton, Marlon King and Omar Cummings sealed the win.
