QPR 1 – Leicester 2 (Championship, October 30, 2009) Just after the half hour Adel Taarabt put QPR into the lead to claim his third goal in as many matches. Leicester hit back though, with a brace from Matty Fryatt either side of half-time to push themselves up to second in the Championship table.

Borussia Dortmund 2 – Hertha Berlin 0 (Bundesliga, October 30, 2009) Hertha’s poor season continued, Nuri Sahin scored Dortmund’s opener from the spot after a dubious penalty call. Lucas Ramon Barrios wrapped up the win in the 90th minute.

Porto 1 – Belenenses 1 (Superliga, October 30, 2009) A win would have taken Porto top for at least 24 hours, but they instead fell behind to a Rodrigo Lima strike a minutes into the second half. Ernesto Farias levelled in the 63rd minute, but Porto could not find a winner and remain two points behind both Benfica and Braga going into the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.

VVV Venlo 1 – NAC Breda 1 (Eredivisie, October 30, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Things were looking ominous for NAC when Robbert Schilder was sent off after just 17 minutes, and Frank van Kouwen put VVV ahead seven minutes before the break. But despite being down a man for so long, NAC kept fighting and got on level terms through Santiago Leonardo in the 68th minute. Tim Gilissen became the second NAC man to see red seven minutes from full time, but the visitors hung on to earn a point.

Rubin Kazan 4 – Samara 1 (Russian Premier League, October 30, 2009) Following a scoreless first half, the defending champions came to life with goals from Cristian Noboa and Alexander Bukhavor before the hour mark. Veteran striker Jan Koller got one back for the visitors soon afterwards. But they were given no chance to find an equaliser as Gokdeniz Karadeniz restored the two-goal advantage almost immediately – and then Bukharov’s second sealed the win.
