Manchester United 6 – Hull 1 (Barclays Premier Reserve League, April 8, 2010) Just over a minute had passed when Oliver Norwood’s corner was flicked onto Oliver Gill who put United ahead. By the 12th minute United had opened up a 2-goal cushion when Rodrigo Possebon led a counter-attack and fed Gabriel Obertan, who coolly slotted home his maiden goal for the club. In the 24th minute it was three, Richie De Laet pounced on another Norwood’s corner to volley inside the near post and put United well in control. Minutes before the hour mark the Tigers threatened to get back into the game as Nicky Featherstone turned in a close-range finish. But hopes of a Hull revival were dashed six minutes later thanks to a tremendous shot on the volley from Manchester United’s reserve skipper Corry Evans. With the game dead and buried Febian Brandy added a fifth when he twisted past three players before applying the finishing touch. And Joe Dudgeon put the cherry on the top with the goal of the game, smacking a brilliant volley home from 17-yards on the angle for number six.
