Tuesday night footie: Champions League 2nd qualifying round

Inter Baku 0 – Lech Poznan 1 (Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg, July 13, 2010) The Polish side came away from Azerbaijan with a win after Artur Wichniarek poked home from a left wing cross two minutes after half time.

Litex Lovech 1 – Rudar Pljevlja 0 (Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg, July 13, 2010) A header from a tight angle by Ivelin Popov on eight minutes was the difference between the two sides.

Levadia Tallinna 1 – Debrecen 1 (Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg, July 13, 2010) Tarmo Neemelo rose highest to give the home side the lead on the hour. Laszlo Rezes equalised in the dying seconds of the match with a fine flicked volley that went in off the post.

Omonia Nicosia 3 – FK Renova 0 (Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg, July 13, 2010) Cypriot striker Michalis Konstantinou was the hero for Omonia netting a brace. Konstantinou opened with a 7th minute penalty before Davidson Morais doubled with a left-footed strike into the near post. Konstantinou wrapped up the win with a header in the second half.

Dinamo Zagreb 5 – NK Koper 1 (Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg, July 13, 2010) Davor Bubanja had given Koper a shock lead on 10 minutes but a hat-trick from Mario Mandzukic and further goals by Miroslav Slepicka and Etto secured the emphatic victory for the Croatian giants.

Hapoel Tel Aviv 5 – Zelijeznicar 0 (Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg, July 13, 2010) All the goals came in the first half. Maharan Lala scored a hat-trick, Yossi Shivhon scored from the penalty spot and an og from Mirsad Beslija completed the scoring.

RB Salzburg 5 – HB Torshavn 0 (Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg, July 13, 2010) Huub Stevens’s side were three up by the 46th minute courtesy of strikes from Gonzalo Zarate, Jakob Jantscher and a long-range shot from defender Andreas Ulmer. First half highlights. Roman Wallner’s simple finish increased the lead just past the hour, and 19-year-old substitute Stefan Hierlander completing the scoring eight minutes from time.

Metallurg Lipetsk 0 – Spartak Moscow 1 (Russian Cup, July 13, 2010) A penalty from Alex eight minutes into the second half was the difference between the two teams.

Dinamo St. Petersburg 1 – Zenit St. Petersburg 3 (Russian Cup, July 13, 2010) Maksim Kanunnikov put Zenit in front on 16 minutes. The home side drew level from the penalty spot on 53 through Maksim Rogov but a quick-fire brace by Alessandro Rosina gave Zenit the win.

IFK Gothenburg 1 – Bristol City 1 (Pre-season friendly, July 13, 2010) First half highlights. New signing Albert Adomah scored on his debut with an excellent looping long range effort. Tobias Hysen equalised six minutes after the break.

Benfica 4 – Aris 1 (Pre-season friendly, July 13, 2010) Pablo Aimar’s deflected free-kick set Benfica on their way but the Greeks pulled level when Danijel Cesarec tucked home a right wing cross from close range. Javier Saviola restored Benfica’s lead with a neat shot on the turn and Alan Kardec made it 3-1 from another free-kick. Franco Jara added the gloss with a fourth.

Sportfreunde Lotte 1 – Borussia Dortmund 4 (Pre-season friendly, July 13, 2010) Lotte took an early lead through Benjamin Wingerter’s penalty, and it was until the second half that Dortmund levelled as new signing Robert Lewandowski scored with a terrific overhead kick. Dimitar Rangelov then stole the headlines as the forward bagged a hat-trick for the Bundesliga outfit.

Brasiliense 1 – Atletico Mineiro 1 (Campeonato Brasileiro B, July 13, 2010) A tidy header from Aloisio nine minutes before half time gave the home side the lead, Jandson equalised on 90 minutes with a goal straight from a corner kick.

Duque de Caxias 3 – Portuguesa 2 (Campeonato Brasileiro B, July 13, 2010) After a goalless first half the game came to life ten minutes after the break with Heverton rounding the keeper and slotting home to put Portuguesa one up. Two minutes later Somalia equalised only for Athirson regain the lead for the away team on 77. On 80 Somalia headed home his second to leave things all square and on 87 a penalty from 33-year-old Somalia sealed the unlikely win.

Figueirense 2 – Vila Nova 0 (Campeonato Brasileiro B, July 13, 2010) Figueirense moved up to second thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino and Willian.

Ipatinga 1 – Sport Recife 3 (Campeonato Brasileiro B, July 13, 2010) Eduardo Ramos burst through in the fifth minute to give Sport the lead which was doubled by Ciro on 22. Leonardo Conde pulled one back ten minutes into the second period but Mateus sealed the win four minutes from time with a fine strike.

Icasa 3 – Parana 0 (Campeonato Brasileiro B, July 13, 2010) A cracking strike from Dodo gave the home side the lead on 32, seven minutes later Carlinhos doubled the scoreline with another long range effort, Marciano completed the scoring on the stroke of half-time.

Nautico 2 – ASA 1 (Campeonato Brasileiro B, July 13, 2010) Nautico remain top of the league but they left it late. Cristiano scored first on 42, Junior equalised for ASA just after the hour but a 91st minute winner from Ze Carlos, a fine long range strike, secured all three points.
