Trotters stomp over the Black Cats; Hull take a point at Stoke; Latics rally to beat the Baggies

Sunderland 1 – Bolton 4 (Premier League, November 29, 2008) (MOTD highlights here.) Djibril Cisse put Sunderland ahead when he finished off a fine move, but Bolton hit back with a looping header from Matty Taylor and a rifled strike from Gary Cahill. Just on the half-hour Cisse thought he had equalised with an acrobatic volley but it was ruled out as Jones had pushed Samuel. Johan Elmander put Bolton 3-1 up just before the break following some shocking defending from Collins. (First half highlights here.) Elmander got his second and third in two games after yet more horrible defending.

Stoke 1 – Hull 1 (Premier League, November 29, 2008) Marlon King’s fine turn and finish in first-half injury time handed Hull the lead after a poor opening half. After the break the hosts drew level as Ricardo Fuller was brought down for a penalty which he squeezed past Boaz Myhill.

Wigan 2 – West Brom 1 (Premier League, November 29, 2008) (MOTD highlights here.) After a goalless first half, the Baggies took the lead in the 47th minute as Ishmael Miller exploited a terrible Titus Bramble error to slot the visitors in front. But the Latics responded, first through Henri Camara’s second goal in as many games before finding a winner through unlikely hero Emmerson Boyce who headed home the crucial goal five minutes from time.

Middlesbrough 0 – Newcastle 0 (Premier League, November 29, 2008) The Tyne-Tees derby ended in stalemate, as Mark Viduka returned from a long lay-off to the Toon.

Aston Villa 0 – Fulham 0 (Premier League, November 29, 2008) Gareth Barry missed a hat-trick of first half opportunities for the hosts (first half highlights here) in a match Villa should have won.

Celtic 1 – Inverness CT 0 (SPL, November 29, 2008) Shaun Maloney put Celtic ahead finishing off a fine through ball from Nakamura.

Hearts 2 – Rangers 1 (SPL, November 29, 2008) Two free-kicks from Bruno Aguiar undid Rangers in the first-half. Marius Zaliukas scored the first and Lareya Kingston the second for two goals in three minutes. Almost immediately Rangers pulled one back through an og from Christos Karipidis but they could not find the equaliser despite Lee Wallace getting sent off in the second half.

Sevilla 0 – Barcelona 3 (La Liga, November 29, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) A great finish from Samuel Eto’o put Barca ahead at the break. Late on Lionel Messi secured the win with a brace of quality goals, sandwiched in between Fabiano was sent off for the home side.

Getafe 3 – Real Madrid 1 (La Liga, November 29, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) After only three minutes Juan Albin headed home a delicious cross from Jaime Gavilan to give Getafe the lead. Juan Albin then put Getafe two-up with a great run and finish. Javier Saviola pulled one back from a Guti through ball to give Schuster some hope. But Getafe caught Madrid on the break and Ikechukwu Uche grabbed the killer third.

Juventus 4 – Reggina 0 (Serie A, November 29, 2008) Juventus took a two-goal lead into the break thanks to Mauro Camoranesi and Amauri. Second half goals from Giorgio Chiellini and an Alessandro Del Piero penalty completed the victory.

Catania 1 – Lecce 1 (Serie A, November 29, 2008) Catania moved ahead through forward Michele Paolucci’s angled drive on 61 minutes. But Jose Castillo snatched a point for the visitors a minute after coming on to make it honours even.

Bayer Leverkusen 0 – Bayern Munich 2 (Bundesliga, November 29, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) Luca Toni headed Bayern Munich into the lead just before the hour mark at Leverkusen. Miroslav Klose bagged the second.

Hoffenheim 3 – Arminia Bielefeld 0 (Bundesliga, November 29, 2008) League leaders Hoffenheim got off to a blistering start against Arminia Bielefeld, taking a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Vedad Ibisevic and Carlos Eduardo.

Werder Bremen 5 – Eintracht Frankfurt 0 (Bundesliga, November 29, 2008) Pizarro scored twice inside the opening 20 minutes, firstly turning home Hugo Almeida’s cross and then firing into the top corner after being teed up by Torsten Frings. Bremen grabbed a third goal just before the break when Diego scored from the penalty spot. Pizarro completed his hat-trick on 62 minutes, with Almeida again the provider, and Hunt wrapped up the scoring 15 minutes from time.

Hannover 3 – Karlsruhe 1 (Bundesliga, November 29, 2008) Karlsruhe sank to the bottom of the Bundesliga after fellow strugglers Hannover sent them to their eighth defeat in their last nine games at home. The hosts struck three goals in the first half, with Mike Hanke bagging himself a brace inside the opening 20 minutes and Mikael Forssell adding a third just before the break.

Heerenveen 2 – PSV 2 (Eredivisie, November 29, 2008) Heerenveen were coasting after having built up a two goal lead courtesy of a brace from Roy Beerens, converted Danijel Pranjic’s cross in the first half and bagging his second in the 65th minute. But PSV fought back to claim a point to goals from Danny Koevermans and Stefan Nijland.

Panathinaikos 1 – Asteras Tripolis 1 (Greek Super League, November 29, 2008) Despite going ahead on the stroke of half-time through Antonis Petropoulos, Pana disappointed after their midweek exploits in the Champions League by conceding a goal scored by Adrian Bastia early in the second half. The match ended with a moment of madness as Bastia was sent off for a trip on a pitch invader.

Fenerbahce 2 – Besiktas 1 (Super Lig, November 29, 2008) Fener needed just 11 minutes for Sahin to open with a header from a corner. Besiktas hit back through Nobre ten minutes later, by the game was settled by a moment of brilliance from Daniel Guiza, who chipped home the winner in the 27th minute.
