Ronaldo on target as Real win at Santander; Atletico Madrid, Villarreal & Valencia record convincing wins

Atletico Madrid 3 – Deportivo La Coruna 0 (La Liga, April 4, 2010) A scrappy goal from Juanito gave Atleti the lead midway through the first half, and Diego Forlan doubled the advantage early in the second with a close range header. Tiago killed the match with number three on the hour.

Racing Santander 0 – Real Madrid 2 (La Liga, April 4, 2010) Midway through the first half Cristiano Ronaldo was fouled inside the box and scored the subsequent penalty. Gonzalo Higuain completed the victory with 14 minutes to go sliding home after a glorious ball from Guti. Late on Cristiano Ronaldo missed a rather easy chance.

Valencia 3 – Osasuna 0 (La Liga, April 4, 2010) Joaquin flicked home the opener three minutes into the second half. David Villa swept home the second on 89 and then completed a quick fire brace with a penalty won and then scored in injury time.

Valladolid 0 – Villarreal 2 (La Liga, April 4, 2010) Diego Lopez gave the Yellow Submarine the lead with a fantastic long range effort on nine minutes. Brazilian striker Nilmar showed all his poaching prowess with a header on the hour.

Sporting Gijon 2 – Xerez 2 (La Liga, April 4, 2010) Diego Castro gave the home side the lead on 12. Mario Bermejo equalised seven minutes into the second half. Miguel Cuevas put Gijon in front again five minutes after the equaliser only for Matias Alustiza to capitalise on a shocking back pass to score the second for Xerez with 12 minutes remaining.

Almeria 1 – Mallorca 1 (La Liga, April 4, 2010) Uche Kalu headed the opener in the sixth minute. Pierre Webo equalised for Mallorca on 88.

Getafe 1 – Espanyol 1 (La Liga, April 4, 2010) Manu put Getafe in front on 28, Pablo Daniel Osvaldo equalised seven minutes into the second period with a fine left footed strike.
