La Liga: Zlatan scores as Barca win at malaga; Benzema at the double in Madrid victory; Sevilla crush Bilbao; Valencia & Atletico share 2-all draw

Malaga 0 – Barcelona 2 (La Liga, September 26, 2009) A terrific lobbed through ball from Messi was chested down and fired home by Zlatan Ibrahimovic to put Barca one-up at Malaga just before the break. On 59 minutes Gerard Pique turned home a Xavi free-kick.

Real Madrid 3 – Tenerife 0 (La Liga, September 26, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) After a surprising goalless first half in the Bernabau, Karim Benzema head home an Alonso cross minutes after the restart and the Frenchman soon claimed his second as the Tenerife defence began to fall to pieces. Kaka scored the third in the 78th minute with a cracking strike into the corner.

Athletic Bilbao 0 – Sevilla 4 (La Liga, September 26, 2009) Bilbao were torn to shreds by Sevilla in the first half (highlights here) as a Renato free-kick, a second from Alvaro Negredo and Freddie Kanoute’s all-too-easy third put the visitors in a commanding lead. Jesus Navas claimed the fourth with fifteen minutes to go.

Valencia 2 – Atletico Madrid 2 (La Liga, September 26, 2009) An explosive opening half saw Sergio Aguero first put Atleti ahead on seven minutes after excellent interlinking between Jose Manuel Jurado and Diego Forlan. Two goals in three minutes gave Valencia the lead, Pablo Hernandez controlling an Ever Banega chipped pass before darting inside and scoring inside the near post then David Villa making no mistake when put through by David Silva. Madrid levelled at the death as substitute Maxi Rodriguez finished at the back post in the 92nd minute.
