La Liga: Villa brace helps Valencia thump Valladolid; Villarreal’s Senna sidelined for three weeks in draw; Wins for Depor & Bilbao

In the 62nd minute a terrific strike from Ricardo restored the hosts’ advantage.

Sporting Gijon 1 – Almeria 0 (La Liga, September 13, 2009) Diego Castro’s deflected shot put Sporting Gijon ahead against Almeria after four minutes.

Valladolid 2 – Valencia 4 (La Liga, September 13, 2009) David Silva opened the scoring in Valladolid in the 11th minute by heading in a Mata centre. Nauzet Aleman made it 1-1 for the hosts in the 32nd minute after Valencia keeper Miguel Angel Moya had failed to hold a shot from Fabian Canobbio. But Villa restored Valencia’s lead just three minutes later by turning in a centre from Pablo Hernandez. Mata made it just before halftime (first half highlights here), Villa made it four in the 55th minute after another swift break. Manucho pulled back another goal for Valladolid, but it came too late to save the naive hosts.

Deportivo La Coruna 1 – Malaga 0 (La Liga, September 13, 2009) Filipe’s terrific goal with just eight minutes left in the contest proved the decisive moment of the match.
