Barcelona 5 – Atletico Madrid 2 (La Liga, September 19, 2009) Quick fire goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Leo Messi put Barca 2-up over Atletico inside the opening 16 minutes. Barca the added two more goals before the break, Dani Alves converted a free-kick before Keita tapped home after great work from Zlatan and Messi in the build up. Kun Aguero managed to get Atleti on the scoresheet just before the break. (First half highlights here.) A late Diego Forlan goal proved mere consolation for the visitors with Leo Messi adding a fifth at the death for Barca.
Mallorca 4 – Tenerife 0 (La Liga, September 19, 2009) Mallorca made their early dominance count as they went ahead through Luis Suarez after 16 minutes, and went out of sight in a one-sided second half, when Aritz Aduriz, Julio Alvarez and Pierre Webo completed the rout.
Deportivo La Coruna 2 – Espanyol 3 (La Liga, September 19, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Jose Maria Callejon put Espanyol ahead in the 21st minute and Juan Forlin added a second just before the break after Depor had drawn level through Adrian Lopez. Espanyol increased their advantage at the start of the second half when Joan Verdu netted against the club he left this summer, and although the hosts pulled a late goal back through Nouioui Lassad, the visitors held on for the spoils.
Osasuna 0 – Sevilla 2 (La Liga, September 19, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Sevilla’s first win in Pamplona since the 1992-93 season was achieved thanks to goals from Alvaro Negredo and Frederic Kanoute.
