La Liga: Keita hits trips at Barca notch six against Zaragoza; Valencia ease pasty Almeria; Valladolid crush Depor; Lowly Villarreal win

Barcelona 6 – Zaragoza 1 (La Liga, October 25, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Barcelona promptly responded to their critics following their two-game winless run as they crushed Real Zaragoza 6-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Seydou Keita, a double from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a cherry-on-top strike from Lionel Messi.

Valencia 3 – Almeria 0 (La Liga, October 25, 2009) A hat-trick of great goals saw Valencia move into the top four as David Villa, Pablo Hernandez and Juan Mata all netted impressive efforts in the second half.

Villarreal 2 – Malaga 1 (La Liga, October 25, 2009) Ernesto Valverde’s side took the lead at the Madrigal in the 27th minute when striker Nilmar slid in at the far post and clipped Damian Escudero’s low cross high into the net. Albert Luque equalised in first-half added time with a powerful downward header before Joan Capdevila curled a left-foot strike around the wall into the bottom corner of the net just before the hour.

Valladolid 4 – Deportivo La Coruna 0 (La Liga, October 25, 2009) A double from Nauzet Aleman and late goals from Diego Costa and Haris Medunjanin destroyed high-flying Depor.

Tenerife 1 – Xerez 0 (La Liga, October 25, 2009) Tenerife came out on top in a battle between two other struggling sides as Alejandro Alfaro’s 75th minute goal gave them a 1-0 victory over Xerez.

Racing Santander 1 – Osasuna 1 (La Liga, October 25, 2009) Racing Santander salvaged a 1-1 draw against Osasuna thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from Manuel Arana, after Walter Pandiani had opened the scoring early in the second half.
