La Liga goals: Valencia see off Sevilla; Malaga maul Atletico Madrid; Getafe hit Racing for four

Valencia 2 – Sevilla 0 (La Liga, August 30, 2009) After Sevilla had Freddie Kanoute sent off, Juan Mata fired Valencia into the lead at the start of the second half. A clever second10 minute from time from Pablo Hernandez sowed up the victory.

Osasuna 1 – Villarreal 1 (La Liga, August 30, 2009) A brilliant lob from Santi Carzola put the Yellow Submarine ahead after thirty minutes, but Walter Pandiani brought Osasuna level soon after with a neat finish from ten yards.

Athletic Bilbao 1 – Espanyol 0 (La Liga, August 30, 2009) Bilbao picked up three points courtesy of Gaizka Toquero’s goal after 12 minutes.

Malaga 3 – Atletico Madrid 0 (La Liga, August 30, 2009) Malaga humbled Atletico Madrid thanks to goals from Nabil Baha (34), substitute Manu (63) and Xavi Torres a minute before full-time.

Mallorca 2 – Xerez 0 (La Liga, August 30, 2009) Mallorca secured a opening day victory over Xerez after Leandro Gioda received his marching orders for the visitors in the 40th minute for his second bookable offence. The home side then capitalised as Aritz Aduriz scored the opener in the 57th minute and Tuni doubled the advantage three minutes later.

Racing Santander 1 – Getafe 4 (La Liga, August 30, 2009) Lopez Rafa put Getafe ahead in the 13th minute before Soldado scored in the 28th, 34th and 55th minutes, while Mahdi Racen scored a consolation for Racing Santander two minutes before the interval.
