Valencia opened in the 27th minute when a Jeremy Mathieu cross from the left was tucked home by Jonas. The Catalans were soon back level when Carles Puyol scored another header from a set-play. Los Che was kept afloat in the second half by keeper Diego Alves, who made a superb stop to deny Lionel Messi scoring from the spot.
