Sao Paulo win away at Cruzeiro in the Libertadores; Universidad de Chile take edge in thriller at Flamengo

Cruzeiro 0 – Sao Paulo 2 (Copa Libertadores, May 12, 2010) Dagoberto put Sao Paulo ahead in the 24th minute and Brazil midfielder Hernanes added the second in the 65th from Fernandao’s cheeky backheeled pass.

Flamengo 2 – Universidad de Chile 3 (Copa Libertadores, May 12, 2010) Mauricio Victorino gave Universidad the lead in the fifth minute and Rafael Olarra hushed the crowd at the Maracana by increasing the advantage in the 25th. Adriano pulled a goal back for Flamengo with a header in the 40th minute and Fla’s hopes of a comeback were boosted when Universidad’s Manuel Iturra was sent off just before half time. Although a man down, Alvaro Fernandez added a third goal for Universidad in the 48th minute, pouncing at the back post to score from Jose Rojas’ pass across the goal. Juan scored Flamengo’s second goal in the final minute of regular time to leave the tie finely balanced ahead of the return leg in Santiago next week.
