Riquelme sent off in Boca loss; River lose at Lanus; Godoy Cruz beat Velez

Boca Juniors 1 – Rosario Central 2 (Clausura, April 4, 2010) Boca’s season deteriorated after going down 2-1 at home against Rosario Central, leaving the Buenos Aires giant third from last in the standings. Milton Caraglio headed the winner for Central in the 86th minute, breaking the deadlock after Boca’s Nicolas Gaitan had canceled out Adrian De Leon’s first-half opener. Juan Roman Riquelme was sent off for protesting against referee Rafael Furchi’s decision to award a free kick that led to Central’s winning goal.

Lanus 1 – River Plate 0 (Clausura, April 4, 2010) River Plate are just a point better off than Boca after a 1-0 defeat at Lanus left the club in 16th position. Sebastian Blanco scored the winner for Lanus in the 41st minute.

Godoy Cruz 2 – Velez Sarfield 0 (Clausura, April 4, 2010) Godoy Cruz beat Argentinian giants Velez Sarsfield for the first time in their history, triumphing 2-0 to close the gap on leaders Independiente. Substitute Rodrigo Salinas broke the deadlock in the 71st minute, seconds after coming off the bench, and Cesar Carranza wrapped up the points two minutes later.

Estudiantes La Plata 1 – Banfield 1 (Clausura, April 4, 2010) Mauro Boselli put the hosts ahead in the 14th minute but Marcelo Quinteros levelled five minutes before the break to leave Estudiantes six points off Independiente. Estudiantes had to hold on for a point after Enzo Perez was sent off in the 70th minute.
