Nacional beat Banfield in Copa Libertadores; Ten-man Velez hold Colo Colo; Juan Aurich hits four past Alianza

Monarcas 2 – Deportivo Cuenca 1 (Copa Libertadores, March 16, 2010) Jared Borgetti headed the opening goal against Cuenca from a right wing cross in the 20th minute. The former Bolton Wanderers striker scored his second after a pass from Elias Hernandez, turning in the box and driving in a shot off the crossbar in the 27th. Jorge Ladines got a consolation goal for Cuenca with a diving header in the 76th.

Juan Aurich 4 – Alianza Lima 2 (Copa Libertadores, March 16, 2010) Juan Aurich had a 4-2 home win over fellow Peruvian club Alianza Lima with goals from Roberto Guizasola, Luis Tejada, Reimond Manco and Pedro Ascoy. Joel Sanchez and Roberto Ovelar scored for Alianza.

Colo Colo 1 – Velez Sarsfield 1 (Copa Libertadores, March 16, 2010) Santiago Silva rescued 10-man Velez with a stoppage time equaliser away against Colo Colo. Esteban Paredes opened the scoring for Colo Colo in the 58th minute, 10 minutes before Velez’ Victor Zapata was sent off.
