Estudiantes, Cruzeiro through to quarter finals in Copa Libertadores; Flamengo knock out Corinthians on away goals

Estudiantes 3 – San Luis 1 (Agg. 4-1) (Copa Libertadores, May 5, 2010) Leandro Gonzalez scored the opening goal in the fifth minute before Leandro Benitez added two more in the second half against San Luis to cap Estudiantes’ 1-0 win in the first leg at Mexico. Diego De La Torre scored the lone goal for San Luis in the eighth minute.

Club Nacional 0 – Cruzeiro 3 (Agg. 1-6) (Copa Libertadores, May 5, 2010) Thiago Ribeiro gave Cruzeiro the lead with a 29th minute free-kick while Diego Coates doubled their advantage three minutes after the break. Gilberto secured the win with ten minutes remaining. Nacional ended the game with nine men as defender Sebastian Coates and forward Gustavo Varela were sent off during the second half, while Cruzeiro defender Leonardo Silva also saw red.

Cortinthians 2 – Flamengo 1* (Agg. 2-2) Corinthians took a two-goal first half lead with a David own goal and a Ronaldo header but Vagner Love scored early in the second half for the visitors to dash Corinthians’ hopes and advance Flamengo on away goals.
