Peru stay in the World Cup qualification race beating Uruguay 2-1 (Video)

Peru’s hopes of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia were boosted thanks to a 2-1 win over Uruguay.

The win leaves Peru on 18 points after 14 matches, while they are four points behind fifth-placed Argentina.

As for Uruguay, they are third in the South American table.

Story of the game

Uruguay took the lead when Carlos Sanchez volleyed home just after the half hour.

The lead didn’t last long, however, as five minutes later Jose Paolo Guerrero levelled for Peru after he latched onto a ball over the top.

Edison Flores put Peru in front in the second half with a clinical finish in the box, while Uruguay had Jonathan Urretaviscaya red carded in the second period.
