NAC end Feyenoord’s season with a heavy home defeat

Groningen 4 – Utrecht 0 (Agg. 7-3) (Europa League play-offs second-leg, May 21, 2009) Marcus Berg put Groningen on track after eight minutes and scored again directly after the interval, while Goran Lovre and Tim Matavz were on target to complete the rout.

GAIS 0 – IFK Gothenburg 1 (Allsvenskan, May 21, 2009) Set up by a long pass from Pontus Wernbloom, Sweden’s leading goalscorer Tobias Hysen fired a low shot inside the post at the start of the second half to send IFK back into top spot.

Partizan Belgrade 3 – Sevojno 0 (Serbian Cup final, May 21, 2009) Serbian champions Partizan Belgrade retained the domestic doublem beating second division Sevojno in the cup final. Nenad Djordjevic broke the deadlock on the hour with a superb free-kick from 25 yards. Ivan Stevanovic made it 2-nil with a scrambled effort from close range and Radoslav Petrovic headed the third after a cross from the left from Nemanja Tomic.

Rapid Vienna 2 – Mattersburg 3 (T-Mobile Bundesliga, May 21, 2009) Michael Morz was Mattersburg’s match-winner as he netted either side of halftime. Morz opened the scoring after 28 minutes and, after Nikica Jelavic equalised for Rapid, goals from Cem Atan (65) and Morz’s second (69) ensured Hannes Eder’s 77th minute strike was only a consolation.

Boca Juniors 0 – Defensor 1 (Agg. 2-3) (Copa Libertadores last 16 second-leg, May 21, 2009) Boca were dumped out the Copa Libertadores with Diego De Souza crashing in the only goal in the 27th minute. This was Boca’s first home defeat at home in the competition in the last six years, Defensor play Estudiantes in the quarter-finals.
