Philadelphia Union 1 – Houston Dynamo 2 (MLS play-off first leg, October 30, 2011) Houston’s Andrew Hainault opened the scoring in the fifth minute following a free-kick, but just 120 seconds later Sebastien Le Toux knocked in the equaliser for the home side. The Dynamo’s Calen Carr claimed the winner at the half hour mark after good work from Briuan Ching in the build-up.

Colorado Rapids 0 – Sporting Kansas City 2 (MLS play-off first leg, October 30, 2011) Teal Bunbury’s second half brace proved too much to overcome for the Rapids.
