Udinese and Napoli lead the way in Italy; AC Milan move up to third

Bologna 1 – Juventus 2 (Serie A, October 28, 2008) Pavel Nedved, who has been in sparkling form of late, gave Juventus an early lead at Bologna with a brilliant solo goal, cutting in from the left and firing home with his right foot. After the break Nedved doubled both his and Juve’s advantage as his near-post cross crept into the net. Marco Di Viao scored a consolation for Bologna in the final stages.

AC Milan 2 – Siena 1 (Serie A, October 28, 2008) Inzaghi took a pass from Gennaro Gattuso to put Milan ahead in the 31st, then earned a penalty that Kaka converted in the 65th after Siena captain Simone Vergassola had equalised in the 54th.

Napoli 3 – Reggina 0 (Serie A, October 28, 2008) Napoli moved up to second after a German Denis hat-trick sealed the points against bottom team Reggina. He scored in the 7th, 16th and 62nd minutes to keep his team level on points at the top.

Catania 0 – Udinese 2 (Serie A, October 28, 2008) The home side were unbeaten in six league games but could not hold the leaders who took all three points courtesy of goals from Giampiero Pinzi in the 14th minute and Fabio Quagliarella in the 82nd minute.

Chievo 1 – Lazio 2 (Serie A, October 28, 2008) Sergio Pellissier opened the scoring for the hosts on 11 minutes but Goran Pandev replied four minutes later before an Andrea Mantovani own goal sealed the win eight minutes from time.

Fiorentina 0 – Inter Milan 0 (Serie A, October 28, 2008) Inter Milan dropped to third after being held to a goalless draw at fifth placed Fiorentina.

Genoa 2 – Cagliari 1 (Serie A, October 28, 2008) Sokratis Papastathopoulos turned in after the visiting defence had failed to react to a cross and Thiago Motta doubled the lead with a sliding finish in the second half. Paolo Bianco grabbed one back for the Sardinians before team mate Michele Fini was dismissed after a foul on Diego Milito.
