AC Milan 2 – Atalanta 0 (Serie A, May 2, 2012) (Alternative highlights.) The Rossoneri got off to a lightning start as Sulley Muntari swept in a 6th minute opener. Robinho secured the win deep into second half injury time.
Juventus 1 – Lecce 1 (Serie A, May 2, 2012) (Alternative highlights.) League leaders Juventus took an eighth minute lead against Lecce as Claudio Marchisio headed home a pin-point Pirlo cross. Lecce looked a spent force when Cuadrado was dismissed in the 54th, but with five minutes remaining the relegation strugglers equalised through Luis Muriel (what was Buffon doing?!).
Fiorentina 2 – Novara 2 (Serie A, May 2, 2012) The big story of this match and perhaps the night in Serie A was the amazing scenes as Fiorentina manager Delio Rossi attacked his own player Adem Ljajic. Jeda and Marco Rigoni put Novara ahead, while Riccardo Montolivo’s double earned the Viola a draw.
Parma 3 – Inter Milan 1 (Serie A, May 2, 2012) Wesley Sneijder gave Inter the lead in the 13th minute, but Parma responded well in the second half with Sebastian Giovinco first setting up Fernando Marques for the equaliser before scoring the second two minutes later. He then set up Jonathan Biabiany for Parma’s third goal in the 83rd minute to take Roberto Donadoni’s men to within five points of their opponents with two games of the season remaining, leaving them also a glimmer of hope of sneaking into the Europa League.
Lazio 1 – Siena 1 (Serie A, May 2, 2012) Mattia Destro gave the visitors a surprising 26th-minute lead before Cristian Ledesma converted a penalty shortly after the hour mark to equalise.
Cesena 0 – Udinese 1 (Serie A, May 2, 2012) Diego Fabbrini’s early strike lifted Udinese to a crucial 1-0 victory over Cesena in their fight to secure Champions League football next season.
Genoa 2 – Cagliari 1 (Serie A, May 2, 2012) Rodrigo Palacio put Genoa in front in the 11th minute, but Lorenzo Ariaudo replied within two minutes. Bosko Jankovic then scored the winner to give Genoa a three-point cushion over the relegation zone with two games of the season remaining.
