Sneijder inspires Inter to a last gasp 4-3 victory over Siena; Roma go fourth downing the Flying Donkeys

Inter Milan 4 – Siena 3 (Serie A, January 10, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) A breathtaking 30-yard drive from Massimo Maccarone that appeared the gather pace en route to goal fired Siena ahead at the San Siro. Inter weren’t behind for long, a 23rd minute counter-attack saw Sneijder release Diego Milito over the top and the Argentine rifled a low shot into the corner. Inter moved into the lead when Wesley Sneijder cracked a picture-perfect free-kick into the near post. But Siena went into the break all-square when Swedish midfielder Albin Ekdal scored to end the first half 2-2. With Mourinho barking orders from the sideline, Siena broke in the 65th minute down the right and all too easily Salva saw his cutback tucked home by Maccarone for his brace. With two minutes to go Inter levelled again as their player of the season, Wesley Sneijder, once again dragged them out of a hole with a free-kick. But there was a further twist as in the 92nd minute Inter built one last attack and Walter Samuel fired the black and blues to an incredible 4-3 victory.

Roma 1 – Chievo 0 (Serie A, January 10, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) Roma took just 48 seconds to break the deadlock with Chievo, Daniele De Rossi rising high to head home a corner. The hosts had to play the majority of the game with 10 men after Alexander Doni was sent off for a handball after 12 minutes, while Luca Toni made his first start for I Lupi as the lone striker.
