Inter move four points clear as AC Milan crash at Parma; Roma win at Bologna; Bari, Catania, Lazio & Atalanta win at home

Inter Milan 3 – Livorno 0 (Serie A, March 24, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) Inter raced into a 2-goal lead against Livorno, Samuel Eto’o bagged a brace with the Cameroonian scoring a terrific overhead-kick for his second. Maicon sealed the win in the second half when the full-back gallop[ed up the inside right channel and drilled a shot across the keeper into the far post.

Parma 1 – AC Milan 0 (Serie A, March 24, 2010) AC Milan dropped down to third after they were beaten 1-0 at Parma, Valeri Bojinov got the only goal of the game before Milan’s Andrea Pirlo was sent off.

Bologna 0 – Roma 2 (Serie A, March 24, 2010) Roma, who are level with Milan and host Inter on Saturday, outgunned Bologna thanks to second half goals from John Arne Riise and Julio Baptista.

Bari 2 – Sampdoria 1 (Serie A, March 24, 2010) For the second game running Antonio Cassano got on the scoresheet for Samp, the maverick striker pulling out a fancy flick in the box to give the visitors the lead at Bari. Riccardo Meggiorini pulled Bari level when he thumped in the leveller from close range, and four minutes from time Bari took the lead through a well-placed header from Barreto.

Catania 1 – Fiorentina 0 (Serie A, March 24, 2010) Catania needed just over 60 seconds to take the lead against Fiorentina, Giuseppe Mascara heading home a cross at the back post.

Lazio 2 – Siena 0 (Serie A, March 24, 2010) Lazio struck after six minutes in their relegation 6-pointer with Siena, Stephan Lichtsteiner converting a cross on the volley to put the Romans in front. In the 72nd minute Julio Cruz secured Lazio all three points as he netted his side’s second.

Genoa 2 – Palermo 2 (Serie A, March 24, 2010) Abel Hernandez slid in Palermo’s opener at Genoa ten minutes before the break, but Salvatore Bocchetti levelled for Genoa. Javier Pastore restored his team’s lead, before Simon Kjaer went for an early bath after picking up his second yellow card. Palmero looked good to hold on for three points but goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu saw red and Houssine Kharja snatched a point from the resulting spot kick.

Atalanta 3 – Cagliari 1 (Serie A, March 24, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) Cagliari were reduced to ten men after just 17 minutes when Daniele Dessena was sent off. But hosts Atalanta could take the lead only in the 53rd minute when Simone Tiribocchi found the target. Four minutes after the hour mark Valdes made it 2-0 when he successfully found the Cagliari goal from the penalty spot. Then eight minutes later Valdes wrapped up all three points when he scored his second goal of the evening. Daniele Conti scored an injury time consolation for the Sardinians.
