Hungary 2 – Italy 0 (European U21 Championship Qualifiers, November 13, 2009) Liverpool striker Highly-rated Liverpool striker Krisztian Nemeth opened the scoring on fifteen minutes after a fine reverse pass by Andras Simon. (Nemeth came off five minutes later due to an injury.) Another Liverpool youngster, goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi made a fine save at the end of the first half from Balotelli. (First half highlights here.) Sampdoria midfielder Vladimir Koman secured the win with two minutes remaining. Arsenal keeper Vito Mannone had made his debut for Italy U21s.

England 1 – Portugal 0 (European U21 Championship Qualifiers, November 14, 2009) Tottenham’s young midfielder Danny Rose fired the Young Lions into a 40th minute lead over Portugal, collecting a Andy Carroll knock down and slotting in the opener.
