Brazil 3 – Uruguay 1 (Under-20 World Cup, October 7, 2009) A blistering half-hour opening spell won the game for Brazil. Alex Texeira claimed a brace and Alan Kardec scored the third, nine minutes before the break Jonathan Urretaviscaya pulled one back for Uruguay. Brazil face Germany in the quarters.
Venezuela 1 – UAE 2 (Under-20 World Cup, October 7, 2009) Rondon had put the South American side into the lead but goals from Mohamed Ahmed and Ahmed Khalil set up a quarter final tie with Costa Rica.
Germany 3 – Nigeria 2 (Under-20 World Cup, October 7, 2009) After a goalless first half, Danny Uchechi headed Nigeria in front from close range. A minute later Bojm Kopplin deceived the Nigerian keeper to equalise. Nigeria again took the lead through Rabui Ibrahim, thanks to a fine turn and finish but the Germans hit back equalised again seven minutes later through Mario Vrancic despite being down to ten men by this time. Seconds before the final whistle, Kopplin scored the winner for Ze Germans with a blistering run from inside his own half.
