Holland 1 – Italy 1 (U21 International Friendly, March 31, 2009) Promising Ajax youngster Siem De Jong opened the scoring after 21 minutes before the Atomic Ant – Sebastian Giovinco – equalised just before halftime after an initial Mario Balotelli free-kick had been repelled.
PortugalÂ 2 – South Africa 0 (International Friendly, March 31, 2009) Portugal took a fourth minute lead over South Africa when Bruno Alves rose unchallenged at the back post to head home a corner. And another corner in the second half proved Bafana Bafana’s undoing, the visitors fell to pieces trying to defend an inswinging delivery with Twala turning the ball into his own net.
Angola 0 – Morocco 2 (International Friendly, March 31, 2009) Tottenham’s Adel Taarabt broke the deadlock after just 9 minutes with a wonderful opportunist goal, the Angola keeper miscued a kick straight into Taraabt’s path with the playmaker scoring into the unguarded net from over 25-yards out. Marouane Chamakh settled the match with a second early in the second half.
