England’s Young Lions beat Turkey; Barca’s Deulofeu stars as Spain sink Portugal

Turkey 1 – England 2 (U17 European Championships, May 24, 2010) The Turks took a deserved lead just after the half hour mark when Okan Derici got his head to a mis-hit shot to score. A wonderfully executed equaliser from Saido Berahino meant the sides went in level at the break and Rob Hall’s second half penalty secured the victory for the Young Lions.

Spain 2 – Portugal 0 (U17 European Championships, May 24, 2010) Barcelona’s 16-year-old starlet Gerard Deulofeu stole the show with a brace, his second being a brilliant goal as the “new Ronaldinho” scored directly from a corner.
